Echoes of the Unspoken
Ana Šesto & Tea Plepelić

Description: "Echoes of the Unspoken" explores the enduring impact of the Yugoslav conflicts on memory and the pursuit of justice. Through five distinct images, the series captures the fragmentation, isolation, and lingering trauma experienced by individuals and communities.

Inspired by personal testimonies, the work uses symbolic imagery—scarred architecture, poignant lyrics, isolated figures, and juxtaposed elements—to evoke the unspoken emotional landscape of war's aftermath. The series aims to foster dialogue and reflection on the complex legacy of conflict and the importance of preserving memory in the pursuit of reconciliation.

About the artists: Tea Plepelić (1987) and Ana Šesto (1986) are Croatian visual artists and founders of the collective NEOFRAME. Tea studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, later exploring performance art and illustration. She has exhibited in Zagreb, collaborated with fashion designers, and illustrated award-winning children's books, including E Crvenkapica.

Tea also founded the Art History Platform. Ana is a photographer, curator, and president of O’GRADA, with 20+ solo and 30+ group exhibitions. She has received multiple awards and is known for her project Zagrebalica, documenting cultural heritage and exhibited internationally. Ana teaches photography at United Pop Academy and received EU funding for her project Visual Echoes in Malta (2024).

She is preparing a major street art exhibition at the Zagreb City Museum in 2025. Together, NEOFRAME explores contemporary art through dynamic and collaborative work..
