Digital illustration/Poster | 2025

Injustice
Alessandra-Maria Chițu

Description: "Injustice" is a glitch art poster centered around the illustration of Lady Justice, symbolizing the decay of impartiality and fairness. The blindfold, traditionally representing unbiased judgment, is now contrasted by the image of Lady Justice trapped in a cage, slowly decaying. This juxtaposition reflects the erosion of justice in the face of power and conflict, drawing inspiration from the testimonies of survivors from the Yugoslav Wars. The piece explores the themes of memory, conflict, and the fragility of justice, critiquing how historical injustices often remain unresolved and trapped in cycles of oppression.

About the artist: I am Alessandra-Maria Chitu, 19 years old, and currently a first-year student at West University of Timișoara (UVT), pursuing a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Art. In my first year, I have dedicated myself to building a strong academic foundation and developing essential skills in this specialized field.

Beyond my studies, I actively engage with the local art community. As a volunteer at Centrul de Voluntariat (Mansarda) Reșița, I have contributed to initiatives that encourage cultural appreciation and creativity. I had the privilege to participate in the “Efemer” Exhibition at the Salonul de Artă și Industrie (October 2024), collaborating with artists to highlight the fusion of contemporary and historical artistic narratives. Additionally, I was involved in Street Delivery ”Fantasticul Funicular” (July 2024), where I contributed to public art projects designed to foster creative conversations and community engagement.

In 2022, I was also part of an Erasmus+ project, which offered me the unique opportunity to explore Landart and work on artistic projects near Bergamo, Italy. The experience allowed me to connect with international artists and further develop my artistic vision through a broader cultural and and environmental lens.

Since 2019, I have independently explored the field of digital illustration, learning to navigate software such as Photoshop and Procreate. I have consistently sought opportunities to improve my techniques, teaching myself how to fully utilize these tools and enhance my creative expression. This self-guided journey has enabled me to merge traditional and digital art methods.

I've learned a lot about digital image processing in my university studies, and it's helped me make sure my art really gets the message across. Looking ahead, I am dedicated to furthering my expertise in art conservation and restoration, while also actively engaging with my own artistic practice in art-related projects, allowing my passion for art to grow.
