Through the Trees
Adna Dautović

Description: Through the Trees - explores memory, trauma, and resilience in the context of the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. The red, textured vertical forms—created using acrylic and baking soda for a bark-like effect—symbolize both wounds and endurance, evoking lost lives and the scars left on collective memory.

The contrast between raw, rough textures and the muted background reflects the tension between remembrance and fading histories. Inspired by witness testimonies, the work invites reflection on the fragility of human connections and the importance of preserving untold stories, fostering dialogue, and acknowledging the past to build a more conscious future.

About the artist: Adna Dautović was born on December 20, 1999, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she currently lives and pursues her education. She completed her secondary studies at the High School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo, specializing in Applied painting, and later earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts - Art Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, where she is now pursuing a Master of Fine Arts - Art Education.
