The Raid #1942

Description: The work reflects about the Novi Sad Raid, a massacre occurred at Bačka during Hungarian occupation of Yugoslav territories, in 1942, during World War II. The support of the Artwork is a reusage of an ancient paper of stamp collectors from the middle of the 20th century. The materials used were acrylic, oil and graphite.

The Artwork, with almost no colour, mainly grey, black and white to express the sadness and the drama. The image send us through the horror occurred in 1942to the Jugoslav civilians, their cruel death, in contrast with the beauty of a frozen Danube.

About the artist: Luisa da Rocha is an independent artist, and also consultant in museology and museography, art multimedia. Performs planning and implementation of exhibitions. In 2019-20 worked on the International Art Project INELIGIBLE, with San Francisco State University and International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture, within the scope of contemporary art and archaeology.

Curator for the exhibitions Viva Manta! [SNBA,2022-23], Moita Macedo Poeta Pintor [ReitoriaUL,2023-24]. Exhibition Project Il fanatico per la musica: the Count of Farrobo and the Theatre of Laranjeiras [SGEC,2022-23], which received an APOM 2024 Award. Master's Degree in Museology and Museography in Fine Arts University of Lisbon [FBAUL], Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Heritage at FBAUL. Currently is collaborator at CIEBA [Fine Arts Research Centre of Studies], research for PhD Sciences of Art. Volunteer in social responsibility.
